A Journey towards the Authentic Voice

American mezzo-soprano Anna Grace Roth is based in Germany, and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in opera at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar under the instruction of Professor Anne Schwanewilms. Her recent performances include the role of Cherubino from Le nozze di Figaro, both in the Theater Rudolstadt and with the HfM Franz Liszt, various Lied concerts associated with the HfM Franz Liszt, Opera Galas throughout Thuringia, and operatic roles including Prinz Orlofsky from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and Die Nachbarin from Mavra by Igor Stravinsky.

Anna has also sung the roles La vechietta and La duchessa in La bella dormente nel bosco, and Olga Olsen in Street Scene, during her Bachelor's studies at the DePauw School of Music.  
 

In addition to opera, Anna also enjoys singing concert repertoire. A highlight of her concert experiences includes touring as a soloist with the Hunterdon Symphony Orchestra during their 2022 Austrian performances in the Baden Congress Center, the Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg, and their Beethoven Orchestra Festival appearance in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein.
 

She has participated in many young artist programs, including the Berlin Opera Academy (2021), the AIMS Lieder Studio in Graz (2019), the IES Abroad Vienna Music Program (2019), the Bayview Music Festival in Petoskey, Michigan (2017), and others. She received a Bachelor degree in Vocal Performance from the DePauw School of Music in 2020, as well as a minor in German language.
 

She has been recognized in several competitions. Most recently, Anna was chosen alongside Eunhyuk Lee to represent the HfM Franz Liszt in the 2024 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb. Prior, she placed 2nd in her category at the 2020 NATS Great Lakes Regional Competition in the United States. She is also a finalist of the 2020 and 2018 DePauw Concerto Competitions, and a recipient of the 2016 Grand Traverse Musicale Scholarship.
